Summary: Company stands behind their products
Comment: We own what I believe to be the same shovel, which was previously marketed under the "Lady Gardener" brand by Union Tools.

My wife and I used it for several years and found the small blade size very handy, especially for planting flower bulbs and for digging in tight spots.

This fall the blade tore apart. The label on our shovel said it had a lifetime warranty, so I called Union Tools. After verifying our shovel, the customer service rep offered to send a new shovel without hesitation.

We got a lot of use out of our first shovel and we're very pleased to find a company that stands behind its products. Union Tools will be at the top of our list the next time we need gardening equipment.

Summary: She Loves it
Comment: My wife loves to garden but the big bulky shovels I use don't fit her hands, so to speak. So I bought her one of these floral shovels years ago and after all those years of heavy use it broke on her, I think she snagged a tree root lol. So I bought her this shovel and having been a professional groundskeeper I saw immediately what I had hoped for, the grain in the wood of this shovel was straight going the full length of the handle. That meant no knots and no breakage if she snagged another tree root. The quality made it worth what I spent for it, believe me I know shovels.

Useful: Pond safety

Themain risk with ponds is that children will fall in and drown. It is best to avoid building a pond until a child is at least five years old. If you do have a pond, then fill it in. If you must have a pond in the garden, follow these tips to minimise the risks:
  • Position the pond where it can be seen from the house.
  • Design the pond with gently sloping edges - this is safer than a sudden drop into deep water.
  • Cover small ponds with a combination of heavy-duty wooden trellis and wire mesh. (It is possible to buy a safety grid that sits just below the surface of the water.)
