Summary: Not the best for our system
Comment: This software was easy to install, but it did not work well on our Vista Windows. We had enough memory and large hard drive with enough free space. But our computer kept freezing and locking up and the performance was very poor after installing this product. When we decided to uninstall it after only a week, using the uninstall tool, it took a vital Windows OS file and made our OS crash and we had to start over from the beginning and reformat our hard drive and reload all our software. I do not recommend this software at all.

Summary: Helpful and Easy to Use
Comment: Bitdefender's Internet Security suite provides pretty good protection against virus's, spam, fishing, spyware, and the like. After I scanned my PC it did find something that could be potentially harmful to my computer (I wonder if it was Securom), but it wasn't able to disinfect it. That was a little irritating, but generally the UI and simplicity made up for that. My computer still runs well and I've not had the application really get in the way of anything.

Summary: Fantastic solution - awful support
Comment: You get the idea early on that this is the best, most robust solution that you have ever put on your computer. So many options, wizards, choices, and levels of protection, how could you not feel safe?
How? Well let me answer that. Try calling support and asking a question. I think you would get more help by cosulting the Tarot, holding a seance, rolling dice, or randomly guessing.
I can't fathom that with the budget their Department of Menu Choices was obviously alloted, that instead of a tech support department they should rather invest in a "Department of Deliberate Obfuscation"
If you feel any urge in your body to purchase this product, save yourself some time, and give yourself immediate frustration instead. Staple your foot to the floor, apply to be a mail carrier, or cue up at the local taco stand 10 minutes after the bars close.
Cheers!

Summary: I'm a convert
Comment: As a former user of Norton & McAfee I am really happy with Bitdefender so far. I don't get bugged all the time with updates and scan progress windows with this software. It seems to be doing its job nicely in the background, like a waiter that just keeps quiet.
Since the switch from McAfee I have noticed that pages are quicker to load. I thought my internet speed was the problem but obviously that is not the case since I've seen such a difference just by switching the program.
It was also simple to load. My husband is my "tech support" but I was able to take care of this in less than 10 mins from box to completion.

Summary: OK virus protection, less bloated than some, but not the best
Comment: I've used many different anti-virus and security applications on many different computers over the years, and although Bitdefender is less bloated (hogs less computer resources) than software like Norton, I'm not as impressed with Bitdefender as I hoped.
Most recently I had a chance to compare Trend Micro Internet Security Pro and Bitdefender at the same time. Bitdefender is easy to install and setup, but it doesn't offer as much as the Trend Micro software, and the Trend Micro software was able to detect a malicious Trojan Horse that Bitdefender couldn't detect.
In my mind, that's the biggest issue right there. Bitdender is easy to install and easy on your computer's resources, but despite the fact that it provides "OK" virus protection it isn't as good as other applications on the market. If an anti-virus/security application can't identify a Trojan Horse that puts your computer at risk then why spend money on that program?
I'll gladly take Bitdefender over Norton or Symantec (or over no virus protection at all), but chances are you can find a better anti-virus/security application if you spend a little time doing some research.
